Many of us experience oiliness with just occasional breakouts. Thoroughly cleanse your skin every morning, noon and night. This step is often overlooked, but is an easy and cost-effective way to control oil production (dirty skin = oily skin)! Foamy cleansers are also fine. Just avoid milky cleansers.
You can use an exfoliant with Salicylic Acid because it helps slough off dead skin cells and clear follicles of congestion. It is oil-soluble, which means it is ideal for oily skin.
You can also use a clay mask 2-3 times per week (most require leaving them on for 10-15 minutes). This helps clear out the pores, and is great for eliminating blackheads.
Apply a "Spot Treatment" to breakouts that consists of either Sulfur or Benzoyl Peroxide.
Apply a light-weight moisturizer that is free of heavy oils.

You can also use a sunscreen that is not oil based, preferably a gel, as it's less greasy. Be sure to use a minimum SPF of 15. Don't use an alcohol-based product because this product can be very harmful for your health. Avoid mineral oils and cocoa butter also avoid refined starches, sugar, animal and dairy fats, fried and processed foods.
